The Golden Ball Turnip is an 1863 Heirloom. We got the seed for this variety from our friend Glenn Drowns at the Sand Hill Preservation Center, 1878 230th Street, Calamus, Iowa 52729. If you are interested in heirloom seeds or poultry, Glenn is the real deal, and he produces a fascinating catalog. THe Golden Ball Turnip was brought to this country from London in 1855. It is sweet, tender, and mild with dark yellow flesh. They get huge if left, but flavor is best when harvested at 3-4″. A good keeper.
