Blue Ray Blueberry is well-known and widely grown in the northeast and midwest and a leading variety for u-pick farms. It is an excellent choice for the home garden. Produces a consistent quantity of large, bright blue berries, 60 per cup during the mid-season. Vigorous and productive plants can yield 10-20 pounds at maturity. Mature plants reach 4-6 tall. Leaves turn a beautiful burgundy color in the fall. High-bush cultivar. Zones 4-7.

PLANTING

Plant in loamy, well-drained soil, (pH should be 4.5-5.5) 4-6 apart. Blueberries are shallow-rooted, mulch heavily with a deep layer of acidic material, such as pine needles to keep weeds down. Remove all blossoms in the first year to allow roots to establish themselves.
